Product Info

The sketches of Leonardo da Vinci are truly breathtaking. You can almost hear his thoughts on paper as you study his work on the inner function of man’s anatomy. The most famous of these sketches is Vitruvian Man, an iconic doodle which depicts the proportions of the human body. But what if Leonardo were alive today? Would his model be covered in the latest style of body art? Would he, Vitruvius, be puffing on a pipe and sporting the trendiest of hairstyles? It’s a strong possibility.

Leonardo da Vinci’s drawing of Vitruvian Man is widely regarded as a cultural icon. The original sketch, which is accompanied with mirror writing, describes the Roman architect Vitruvius’s mathematical findings on the measured dimensions of the human form. Leonardo obviously had a steady hand, as his style of penmanship left no trace of spilt ink, something that was embellished and rectified with this reworking.

This set of prints began with Botticelli’s ‘Birth of Venus’. She was modernised with graphic tablet, and shortly after, the Mona Lisa, Vitruvian Man and the Last Supper all followed suit. Many hours of digital painting and reworking later, and the series of images took a life of their own.
